6 months post surgery

It has been quite a while since my last post. I am now fully back into my training and just finished up my second base week with an epic 5 hour ride up Kitchen Creek with Behrens and the future Mrs. Behrens.

It was hot and miserable as we crawled our way up. In the 95 degree heat, I started getting cold sweats which is usually a really bad sign. I was enhaling water more than air and I managed to recover - that is until about an hour from the car.


Both legs started cramping and I was in trouble. Lana and John lead the way back to the car and about 100 yards from the car, my right leg cramped so bad that I couldn't keep pedaling. I sat there in the heat looking at the car a stones throw away, shaking my head in disgust. At least I made it that far....


As for the jaw recovery, I am still wearing braces but they are supposed to come off in September. I still have a lot of numbness in my lower lip/chin but there are signs of recovery. Tingling, sensitivity, slight pain at times are signs that the nerves are regrowing. The good news is that there is no pain at all in my jaw joints.
